A sound sensor acts as a microphone(microphone).It is used to receive sound waves and display a vibrating image of sound,but it cannot measure the intensity of the noise.The sensor has a built-in condenser electret microphone that is sensitive to sound.The sound waves cause the electret film inside the microphone to vibrate,causing a change in capacitance that produces a tiny voltage that changes accordingly.
